About Kerrin

I love chocolate, My husband, my dogs, and a spot of gardening

And, as I was saying, most work I do is special effects (and when I say special effects, I mean NOT like the anaconda in Anaconda III) but special makeup effects and character makeup. You know, like The Grinch and The Godfather (which, of course, was created by the very Godfather of makeup – Dick Smith).

And if you don’t know who Dick Smith is, then get googling while there’s still time.

I do love to dabble in the odd beauty makeup between silicon applications as well. And inside my blog, you’ll find everything from makeup product analysis, to makeup recommendations and reviews. Skincare tricks and techniques, and all manner of things relative to the very popular and creative field of makeup artistry.

.

.

I established The Makeup Refinery to share everything I have learned about makeup and skincare with you. And, as the name suggests, to help refine yourself as a makeup artist, or at home makeup maven.

.

.

In a competitive field such as this one, complete transparency is vital. It helps all of us in the long run. Yep, I’m here to share it all. No secret squirrels here, it’s all my cards on the table purely to help YOU!

And while I’m constantly on the hunt for new special effects-related products myself, I want to help you with your beauty concerns along the way, too. New products, tips, techniques, and skincare concerns, which episode of Stranger Things to watch tonight. You name it!

Over the course of my career I have made up everything from aliens to werewolves, centaurs to zombies. Literally! I’ve also created beauty looks from the 1700s right up to the present day. Yes, my friend TODAY I concealed like a champion.

With such a broad makeup career behind me, it’s always exciting to talk about tools and techniques. As well as all the things we all love about makeup, and why we love them.

However, I’m not just a makeup artist! I’ll also be sharing some of my interests outside of makeup as well.

Gardening takes up a lot of my spare time, as you know if you follow my Instagram page. I also love to galavant across the globe. Perhaps you’ll even hear about that run-in I had with a local in Cairo. Or the time my car got bogged in Wellington.

Whoops there I went again, hold on while I reign in my distractions and get back to makeup talk.

Film and tv makeup work is fast-paced. It can be stressful at times and often means working long hours. It’s as grueling as your last pure barre session. And somewhat removed from the glamour that the end product when you’re watching Brigerton may lead you to believe.

However, it is utterly addictive and rewarding!

Well, with all that said, I’d love to again say welcome aboard! I hope we can have a laugh along the way, and perhaps learn a thing or two as we go 🙂

So, welcome to The Makeup Refinery!!

Enjoy,
