For some reason, these brand spanking new nude lip crayons from Natasha Denona caught my eye. Try saying that in a hurry!
I just had to have them! I love the idea of just throwing on a bit of color with a pencil, especially these days.
Just pop on the pencil. And voila! You have some lipstick on. Easy. So here, I present for you, my review of the new range of “I Need A Nude Lip Crayon” from Natasha Denona.
The Classification
The range of nude tones in this collection is broken down into two main groups:
1.Neutral Pinks
2.Neutral Beiges
I like this classification because it makes it very easy to discern which grouping you may prefer, or a good starting point to work out which pencil or pencils may work best for your complexion.
And from the NP or NB label, they are further identified by a simple number system as follows.

NP2 Ilona – Medium Neutral Pink
NP3 Julia – Medium-Dark Mauve

How to Choose the Right Shade for Your Skin Tone
With Natasha’s background as a makeup artist herself, it’s no surprise that she is active in sharing knowledge and educating her customers. Natasha herself provides the following advice when it comes to selecting the right nude lip product for your complexion.
If your own skin tone is Neutral to Cool – choose Beige Nudes
Or, if your own skin tone has a Yellow Undertone – try Pinks
And if your own skin tone is Warm to Orange Tone – take Your Pick!
Basically, what she is recommending is all about contrast. And complementing. Choose a color that both contrasts and complements your own skin tone and underlying complexion color.
The level of lightness or darkness of the crayon is left up to your own personal taste.
.
The Texture
The Natasha Denona “I Need A Nude Lip Crayon” goes on with a smooth and creamy feel.
Once on the lips, it has a slightly tacky feel and at this stage, it’s difficult for me to resist smacking my lips together as if to dry the product (even though it’s not really in need of drying).
Soon the tackiness passes as the product sets on the lips. And once this has occurred, it is quite difficult to shift the product at all.
.
.
If you’re anything like me, that usually ends up smearing lipstick over their face, teeth or hands at the best of times, these crayons may be just what you are looking for.
And it seems like a timely release date at a time when much of the world is wearing fabric over their mouths. This product may well fill the void that millions of lipstick-less ladies across the globe have been feeling since they ditched the lippy in 2020!
Natasha also recommends that you can pair the crayon with a gloss or lipstick over the top if you like. Instantly, the Bite Beauty Agave+ Lip Tint Tins come to mind. I think they would pair beautifully!
The Ingredients
While each color of the range has a slightly different ingredient list (check the Natasha Denona website for a full ingredient list) it’s worth knowing the following about the crayons:
- Vegan
- D5 Free
- Talc Free
- Mineral Oil-Free
- Fragrance-Free
- Cruelty-Free
- Made In Italy

Likes
- Quick and easy application
- Subtle and natural color options
- Solid feel in the hands
- gorgeous rose gold packaging (yes, I’m a sucker for packaging!)
- matte finish
- smudge and budge-proof once it has set
Dislikes
- tip becomes blunt very quickly (apply the lip line outline first!)
- some of the colors are very brown – if your lips are already prone to colors oxidizing (going orange on your skin) stick with the pink tones!
- may take some trial and error to find the right color for your skin tone

The Verdict
Even though I have only had these products a short time, I feel like they could easily become part of my daily routine.
It’s a big draw card for me to be able to apply something quickly and easily.
And these crayons are certainly quick and easy. Once you have found your color, that is. It’s interesting just how challenging it can be to get a nude lip tone right on yourself. But once you have it, they are great for day and night, or just to make yourself feel presentable around the house each day.
And with that, there’s only one thing left to say – do you have your nude lip crayon? Go out and get it!
